Next Webinar - War for the Curb in the Age of Accessibility and Mobility

Wednesday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. EDT
Sidewalk accessibility for pedestrians with disabilities and older adults often conflict with new technology and transportation options in cities and towns, such as scooters and bikeshare stations, curbside EV chargers, and sidewalk delivery drones. These conflicts can be both frustrating and dangerous and many prior solutions leave accessibility barriers in place. The new Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), put into effect in 2025, prioritize clear paths of travel for pedestrians with disabilities, and impact how planners must address conflicts with new mobility. In this webinar, learn how you can use best practices to address a complex ecosystem of competing mobility variables. Through this session, accessibility experts Alan Hejl, of Spark Access, and Jonathan Katz-Ouziel, of Opossum House Accessibility, will walk through the PROWAG standards, examples of how they interact with the wave of new mobility factors that communities may experience, and provide best practices for how to approach harmony and ensure safety for pedestrians and cyclists with and without disabilities while engaging your local community.
