APBP CommitteesAPBP has several standing committees that support the Association in its programs and activities outlined in the strategic plan. The call for 2026 committee volunteers is now open! Complete our Volunteer Interest Form by Thursday, Nov. 13. You must be a current member of APBP to join a committee. Not an APBP member? Click here to join! Questions? Please contact headquarters by e-mailing [email protected] Membership CommitteeThe Membership Committee seeks to grow membership and increase the value of the organization for current members. The committee seeks to help members advance their careers and professional relationships and supports the mentor program, chapters and networking among members. The membership committee meets every other month and may have email communication in between. Equity and Inclusion (E&I) CommitteeThe E&I Committee was formed as a diverse group of APBP members and stakeholders. Their work highlights issues and fosters discussion within the association; helps identify ways to engage historically underrepresented people in our leadership, membership, and the profession at large; identifies ways to measure and report on progress; and develops or recommends resources to APBP members that will expand their understanding and skills, all with the goal of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in our field and in the application of our professional skills. The E&I committee meets every other month, has optional office hours in the off months, and may have email communication in between. WebinariosFuture webinar topics are determined by the Webinarios each year. The Webinarios seek input from members via proposals, webinar evaluations as well as at APBP Conferences and events. The Webinarios review all proposals for presenters and finalize panels for each monthly webinar. They also help determine any free webinar offerings that APBP should host. The Webinarios meets every other month and may have email communication in between. During the fall, the committee meets more frequently to determine the webinar series for the following year. Policy CommitteeThe Policy Committee works closely with Caron Whitaker, APBP's Policy Specialist, on policy statements, briefs, letters of support and other materials that align with our policy principles. The policy committee meets every other month, holds office hours in the alternate months, and may have email communication in between. Nominating CommitteeThe Nominating Committee prepares and presents a slate of candidates for the APBP Board of Directors on an annual basis. The committee is designated by the President with the approval of the Board of Directors. It is normally comprised of at least three members – the Vice President, another Board member, and an APBP member. The Executive Director and other APBP staff may serve in an advisory capacity as non-voting members. The Committee works closely with headquarters on data collecting, call for nominations, and tallying of election results. Conference Planning CommitteeThe Conference Planning Committee works with staff to plan the APBP annual conference. The committee is composed of a Chair/Co-Chairs (a member local to the host city), an APBP Board representative(s), a planning committee member from a previous conference, and additional planning team members. The Committee should have at least 50% representation from the host city and can include sub-committees to focus on speakers/programming, mobile tours, sponsorship and other areas. The planning committee meets every month for about 8-12 months prior to the event, and may have email communication in between. Awards JuryThe Awards Jury includes a chair (board member) and other members chosen by the chair and approved by the Board of Directors. Members should be chosen based on geographic diversity, credibility as professionals, range of professional experience, and active involvement in APBP. In the past, at least a three-member panel has been selected and is recommended. At least one board member and at least one person who has served on a past selection panel or been an award recipient should be included (these can be the same person or different people). The awards jury will meet 2-3x per year. Finance CommitteeThe Finance Committee is composed of the Treasurer (Committee Chair), another Board member, Executive Director, and two to three general members. The Finance Committee’s central function is to help ensure proper management and oversight of APBP’s finances and review the budget. This committee generally meets 1-2x per year. |
