Learn how mapping can be a planning tool for regional networks. This webinar describes a large, multi-jurisdictional collaborative planning process in Collin County, Texas (north of Dallas) that resulted in a Regional Trails Master Plan. (In this part of Texas, the term trail most often refers to a shared use path.) Collin County covers 886 square miles and comprises 31 cities and towns, ranging from urban/suburban to rural. Learn how these municipalities combined existing maps and GIS data to develop an inventory of destinations and existing and planned facilities. This database became the basis of the RTMP, which prioritizes corridors, addresses gaps and linkages between municipalities, and provides a tool to evaluate funding requests and coordinate projects.
