The Board of Directors of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) has endorsed the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) Urban Street Design Guide. City streets necessitate a unique design approach unmet by conventional highway design guidelines. The NACTO Urban Street Design Guide charts the principles and practices of the nation’s foremost engineers, planners, and designers working in cities today. NACTO’s richly illustrated guide offers a concrete vision for improving the safety and livability of our streets for pedestrians, bicyclists, car users and transit users. APBP urges other professional associations, states and cities to join with APBP and the five states (California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Utah and Washington) and 34 cities that have already endorsed the NACTO Urban Street Design Guide. The endorsement campaign continues through May 31.
