APBP Stands in Solidarity with Minnesota

APBP Stands in Solidarity with Minnesota. As a community of professionals committed to safe and accessible transportation systems, the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP) is deeply concerned for Minnesotans and those across the country who have been harmed by recent violent actions by federal immigration and border patrol agents. We hold compassion for those who are grieving, and we stand with those who are calling for accountability, dignity, safety, and justice.

The deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti are just two of the recent, devastating examples of the harm that is being brought to our streets. We also recognize that there are many whose stories have received less media attention, especially people who have been unfairly targeted due to the color of their skin or language that they are speaking. Our hearts go out to the individuals, families, neighbors, and communities that have been affected.

Many of the violent actions by federal agents have disregarded justice and violated essential rights granted by the United States Constitution. The damage to life, physical and mental health, economic opportunities, and general well-being due to these unjust actions is real, profound, multi-generational, and unacceptable.

APBP exists to support professionals in creating more walkable, bikeable places that support free and safe movement. Integral to this is the right to use our streets for peaceful protests like those happening in Minneapolis and across the United States. We stand together in our call for safe streets and justice for all.
