Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals Announces
Launch of First U.S. Local APBP Chapter in Washington State

Seattle, WA - APBP and the Bicycle Alliance of Washington along with Feet First hosted an informational and organizational meeting on October 3rd to launch APBP's first U.S. local chapter. With the establishment of a provincial local chapter in Vancouver, British Columbia earlier this summer, this state chapter will bring together bicycling and pedestrian professionals from across Washington state to generate professional development opportunities, career networking activities, and to work to establish a voice representing the needs of our dynamic and growing profession.

Washington state has many APBP members who are involved in numerous public, non-profit, advocacy and educational organizations and initiatives advancing the cause of active transportation. It is the perfect place to initiate the first APBP chapter in the US.

Many thanks to Barbara Chamberlain of the Bicycle Alliance of Washington and Lisa Quinn of Feet First for their assistance in bringing professionals together for this first meeting. Want to start a local chapter in your area? Contact Phil Miller. Phil@apbp.org

The Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals provides expertise for sustainable transportation and is the only professional membership organization for the discipline of pedestrian and bicycle transportation. APBP members are employees of all levels of government, consulting firms and non-profits who work in the engineering, planning, landscape architecture, police, safety, health and promotion fields and specialize in improving conditions for bicycling and walking.
