All About Guidance #2 – Using Guidance Effectively

Begin a new year in your professional life by taking a fresh look at the topic of guidance. Two consecutive webinars invite practitioners to think more broadly about the guidance documents they use and explore recent developments in how guidance is applied.

On December 16, we asked which resources belong in the practitioner’s library and considered ways to navigate effectively among different sources of information. (Click here to get the webinar if you didn't attend on 12/16.) On January 20, the discussion segues to specific applications of design flexibility: how agencies can select among treatments to improve safety, create better networks, and maximize efficiency. Case studies from Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Phoenix focus on lane width, traffic analysis, design speed, and resiliency (sustainability). Speakers discuss their challenges and successes in developing proactive approaches to achieving design flexibility. Attend this webinar to understand the benefits of a flexible design approach to transportation planning and learn strategies to develop local capacity for design flexibility.

Presenters:
Christine Fanchi, PE, PTP, City Livability Planner, City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Jessica Mortell, Project Engineer, Toole Design Group

Continuing Education Credits: APBP will provide an attendance certificate to those who document their professional development hours; each 60-minute webinar provides one hour of training (.1 CEU). APBP applies to the AICP for Certification Maintenance credit for each webinar.

All webinars will be recorded for later viewing. The fee to purchase a site license is $50 for APBP members, $85 for non-APBP members. Each site license includes one phone connection (toll charges apply, or use VoIP), one Internet connection, one set of handouts for unlimited attendees in the same location, and access to the recording. (You may be required to download free software from Citrix GoToMeeting in order to participate in the webinar.) APBP accepts Visa, MasterCard or AMEX.
