What's in There for Me: Mining National Data for Information on Walking and Bicycling

Are you "interested but concerned" when it comes to data analysis? Join APBP for an examination of the large national databases available to us and how they can be queried to extract data on cycling and walking in our communities. This webinar will provide a user-friendly, 101-level overview of the National Household Travel Survey and the American Community Survey, including a detailed description of the data relevant to bicycle and pedestrian trips to be found in each data set; how to use the NHTS Table Designer Tool and the U.S. Census Factfinder website to extract information and build a profile of your community; and a discussion of the limitations and caveats of these tools. The session includes a case study from Portland, Oregon, that shows how these data can be used to build support for investments in cycling and walking. Presenters are Dr. Robert Schneider, Assistant Professor in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Urban Planning, and Roger Geller, Bicycle Coordinator, City of Portland.

Continuing Education Credits: APBP will provide an attendance certificate to those who document their professional development hours; each 60-minute webinar provides one hour of training (.1 CEU). APBP applies to the AICP for  Certification Maintenance credit for each webinar.

The fee to purchase a site license is $50 for APBP members, $85 for non-APBP members. Each site license includes one phone connection (toll charges apply, or use VoIP), one Internet connection, one set of handouts for unlimited attendees in the same location, and access to the recording. (You may be required to download free software from Citrix GoToMeeting in order to participate in the webinar.) APBP accepts Visa, MasterCard or AMEX. For more information, contact Debra Goeks (262-228-7025 or info at apbp.org).

APBP thanks these generous sponsors for underwriting the webinar:
