You're invited to a special reception in Minneapolis on Friday, February 24, when APBP will honor former Congressman James Oberstar for his tireless dedication to the needs of pedestrians and cyclists.
We hope you'll join APBP and Transit for Livable Communities from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for small plates and a no-host bar at Tom Pham's Wondrous Azian Kitchen. During the event, APBP Executive Director Kit Keller will present the 2012 Meritorious Service Award to James Oberstar for championing the vital, daily work of our members. "Over the past 20 years, we can trace many of the gains we've made straight back to the desk of Jim Oberstar,” says Andy Clarke, President of the League of American Bicyclists. APBP applauds a brilliant policy maker for his tireless dedication to establishing broad eligibility for transportation funds, the Safe Routes to School Program, state bicycle coordinator positions, the requirement to plan for bicyclists at the state and regional level, and the non-motorized pilot projects.
